Constance “Connie” Eva Mohr was born February 15, 1927 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the daughter of William and Christine (Claassen) Welch. In 1945 Connie met her future husband, Arlen Mohr, in Florida during World War II. The couple was engaged in San Diego later that year and married on June 16, 1946 in Preston, Iowa. In 1948 Connie and Arlen were thrilled to become parents to their son, Lawrence, and then in 1952 to their second son, Dale.

They moved to Fredericksburg in the spring of 1948 where Connie stayed home and raised their boys. She really enjoyed all sorts of art. Connie was actively involved with ceramics, oil paintings and other different arts and crafts. In the 1960s she worked as a bookkeeper. Connie later moved to water colors for a longer career in art. She always enjoyed her good friends, playing cards, bowling, her Bible study and traveling to different art workshops around the Midwest, where her beautiful paintings won her many blue ribbons.

One of Connie’s proudest moments in her later years was the creation of the Connie Mohr Art Gallery in Fredericksburg. Her love of art ran deep, and this legacy for future generations was a significant honor for her.

She is survived by two sons, Lawrence (Carla Marcus) Mohr of Scarborough, ME, Dale (Mary) Mohr of Kirkland, WA; four grandchildren, Gillian Schair (Seth Rigoletti), Erica Schair (Ivan Cardona); four great-grandchildren, Maya Schair-Rigoletti, Eli Schair-Rigoletti, Diego Schair-Cardona, Paloma Schair-Cardona all of Portland, Maine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlen on January 30, 2005, and her only sibling, her brother William Welch.
