age 87 of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday April 1, 2008, at
the Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008,
at the Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church in
Fredericksburg with Pastor Ron Pinckney presiding. Music
for the service will be provided by Mary Gansen as
organist and Rodger Dos as vocalist.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military
rites by the Fredericksburg Amvets. Serving as
pallbearers are Bryan O’Day, Victor Herrmann, Bill
Elliott, Tod Elliott, Mark Smith and Ben Pagel. Honorary
pallbearers are Jim Huffman, Wayne Slick, Roy Speicher,
Doug Suckow, John Lawlor, Howard Pichelmann, Norb Gansen
and Harvey Drewelow.
Friends may call 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the
Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral home in Fredericksburg
where there will be a 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service.
Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the
church.
Robert Lloyd Treloar was born September 7, 1920, on
the family farm southeast of Fredericksburg, IA, the son
of Gus and Opal (Ladwig) Treloar. He received his
education in Sumner graduating from high school in 1939.
On April 13, 1943, he was inducted into the United
States Army Air Force where he served and was honorably
discharged on October 27, 1945.
On May 9, 1946, at the former First Baptist Church in
Fredericksburg he was united in marriage to Lugene
Bravener. The couple farmed near Fredericksburg for many
years and operated under the name, Triple R Farms.
During his years farming he especially enjoyed the work
of his cattle operation. After retiring from farming he
began working for his two sons in their Oelwein
brokerage firm and was later a farm consultant at the
Northeast Iowa Security Bank in Fredericksburg.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lugene; two
sons, Robert (Linda) Treloar of Fountain Hills, AZ and
Roger (Suzanne) Treloar of Solon, IA; four
grandchildren, Joy Treloar, Chad Treloar, Alexandra
Treloar and Laura Treloar; one brother, Howard (Mary
Ellen) Treloar of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Holly
Oswalt of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one
sister, LaVisa Klotz.
