age 88 of Fort Atkinson, died Sunday afternoon March 16, 2008,
at the Eastern Star Home in Decorah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, Waucoma with her nephew, Rev. James Secora
celebrating the Mass. Con-celebrating will be Rev.
Marvin Salz. The pall will be placed on the casket by
her five children. Debbie Best will be the Lector and
the offertory gifts will be presented by Tom and Pat
O’Brien. Organist for the service will be Mary
Dietzenbach. The congregation will sing, "On
Eagles Wings", "Here I Am Lord", "I
Am The Bread Of Life" and "How Great Thou
Art".
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cresco, with
grandchildren, Brenda Boleyn, Jennifer Wilde, Carrie
Scheidel, Joy Kapler, Abby Kapler, Amy Kapler, Destiny
Kapler, Michael Kapler, Bradley Best, Adam Kapler and
Kelsey Kapler as pallbearers.
Friends may call 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hugeback
& Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton where there
will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary. Visitation continues one
hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Eleanor Rose Kapler was born November 5, 1919, in
Ossian, IA, the daughter of Louis and Sophia (Kapell)
Zwiebohmer. She received her education at St. Francis
DeSalles School in Ossian. On November 3, 1943, at St.
Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, IA, she married
Clarence J. Kapler. To this union six children were
born. The couple made their home on their farm near
Jackson Junction where Eleanor raised her family and
worked with her husband.
She loved to work in her garden and provided well for
her family from this work. Clarence and Eleanor’s
daughter Sonja died of cancer in 1993. Clarence died on
March 8, 2003, at the age of 83. Eleanor will be
remembered for the emphasis she placed on her family.
Eleanor is survived by four sons, Gerald (Phyllis)
Kapler of Waverly, IA, Leo (Theresa) Kapler of Woodbury,
MN, Dale Kapler of Waterloo, IA, Richard (Theresa)
Kapler of Hawkeye, IA; one daughter, Susan
(Francis) Best of Ft. Atkinson, IA; eleven
grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister,
Evelyn Secora of Ft. Atkinson, IA; and one brother;
Albert Zweibohmer of Ossian; a sister-in-law, Dorothy
Wolter of Cherry Valley, IL; and a very special friend
from the eastern star home in Decorah, Viva Hanna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; her daughter; two brothers, Herman Zweibohmer
and Theodore Zweibohmer; two sisters, Luella Cooper and
Rosalyn Poshusta.
