Margaretha (Margaret) Maria Kammeyer,
age 90 of Fredericksburg, died of cancer at the home of
her granddaughter (Lori Blackburn) in
Waterloo,
Iowa, on Saturday, March 22, 2008.
Funeral services will be held 10:30
a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at
St. Paul
’s
Lutheran
Church
in
Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch officiating.
Karen Downes will be the organist.
Interment will be in Rose Hill
Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Craig Petersen, Randy
Schneider, R.J. Meier, Mark Wendland, Harold Ross and Tom
Reick as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held 4 – 7 p.m.
Tuesday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in
Fredericksburg

hymnal fund or Cedar Valley Hospice.
Margaretha (Margaret) Maria Kammeyer,
was born January 12, 1918, in rural Tripoli,
Iowa, daughter of Christina (Lohmann) Ketels and Peter Ketels.
She was baptized at home on the family farm by Pastor C.
Meyer on February 6, 1918.
The family moved to Chickasaw
County when Margaret
was 9-years-old, attended rural school and graduating from
the Alpha
High School
on May 28, 1936. She was confirmed by Pastor F.C. Ide at
St. Peter’s
Lutheran
Church
in Richfield,
Iowa, on Sept. 4, 1932.
On April 20, 1939, she married Ray Herman Tank at
St. Peters
Lutheran
Church, Richfield,
Iowa, and gave birth to Robert Tank, July 29, 1940. Ray
died March 11, 1974 and Robert died March 27, 1976.
On Oct. 3, 1975, she married Herman Kammeyer at
St. Paul
’s
Lutheran
Church
in
Fredericksburg,
Iowa. Herman died Aug. 24, 1998. Margaret was a farmer and a
nurse’s aide at Sunrise Nursing Home in
Fredericksburg.
Margaret is survived by her three granddaughters, Connie
Murray (Todd) of
Chandler,
Ariz; Deborah Reid (Don) of
Tempe,
Ariz; Lori Tank-Blackburn (Ben) of
Waterloo,
Iowa; daughter-in-law, Elsie Tank of
Sun Lakes, Ariz; brother, Glen Ketels of New Hampton, Iowa; and three
great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kelty and Grant Murray.
She is preceded in death by her
parents; her husbands; her son; sister, Irene Leistikow
and brother, Leslie Ketels.
