age 64 of New Hampton, died Thursday evening April 3,
2008, at his home.
Memorial Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April
6, 2008, at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home,
New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey presiding. Private
family interment will take place at a later date in
Arizona.
Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the
service at the funeral home.
Eugene Joseph Gratz was born November 10, 1943, in
Milwaukee, WI, the son of Joseph Herman and Lorraine
Joan (Klaviter) Gratz. He received his education in
Muskego, and graduated high school there in 1961. Eugene
served in the United States Air Force and was honorably
discharged on February 15, 1965.
He lived for many years in Chandler, AZ, and on April
4, 1990, he married Carol Breitbach of New Hampton.
Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to
New Hampton where he lived and worked until being diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s disease in May 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; one son, Kristofer
Gratz of New Hampton; a step-son, Philip (Kerrie)
Eichenberger of New Hampton and a step-daughter, Sarah
Eichenberger of Waterloo; his mother, Lorraine Gratz of
New Hampton; five grandchildren, Branna Elenz,
Jewel Eichenberger, Hannah Eichenberger, Lily
Eichenberger and Nicholas Dennler.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Gratz in
1984 and his father in 1993.
