Robert Lee “Bob” Floden,
age 64 of New Hampton died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at his
home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
March 15, 2008, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral
Home in New Hampton. Private family interment will take
place at a later date.
Friends may call 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hugeback
& Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation
continues an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the
funeral home.
Robert Lee “Bob” Floden was born July 11, 1943, in
Waverly, IA, the son of John and Irma (Foster) Floden. He
received his education in Sumner and graduated from the
Sumner High School in 1961. On May 26, 1961, he entered
the United States Air Force where he spent part of his
duty in France. Robert was honorably discharged on April
8, 1965.
On June 20, 1969, in Michigan he married Wilda Smith.
To this union two children were born. The couple later
divorced. Robert was an exceptional electrician for 25
years with the former Sara Lee in New Hampton and worked
for five more years at Sparboe in New Hampton. He loved
hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle, gardening, target
shooting, riding and training horses, refinishing and
building furniture.
Survivors include his life partner, Glenda Blackwell of
New Hampton; one daughter, Tina Slinger of Charles City;
one son, Jamie (Lyndee) Floden of New Hampton; his
children by heart, Phillip and Melissa Thomas of Alta
Vista, IA and Jerrod Blackwell of New Hampton; five
grandchildren, Dara Roethler, Cody Slinger, both of Charles
City, Hailey Thomas, Kallie Thomas, both of Alta Vista,
IA, and Cassie Short of New Hampton; his former wife and
friend, Wilda Phillips of Story City, IA; his father, John
Floden of Sumner, IA; seven siblings, Patricia (Ray) Fox,
Jon (Debra) Floden, David (Kathleen) Floden, Ronald
(Wanda) Floden, Diane (James) Sterba, Donna Floden and
Merri Harris.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother.
