Dorothy M. Flick,
age 79 of New Hampton, died Thursday May 30, 2008, at
Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph
Center, New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating
the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by her
four children. Ann Bennett will be the organist
accompanying Daryl Kuehner as cantor and the Holy Family
Resurrection Choir. Lectors for the service will be
Erica Davis, Kristin Morrissey and Katie Flick.
Presenting the offertory gifts will be Katie Flick,
Erica Davis, Sarah Valencourt, Kristin Morrissey and
Corinne Flick.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New
Hampton with grandsons, Zachary Flick, Brayden Flick,
Aaron Morrissey, Bryan Morrissey, Matthew Flick and
Anthony Flick serving as pallbearers. Honorary
pallbearers are her three granddaughters, Katie Flick,
Erica Davis and Sarah Valencourt.
Friends may call 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hugeback
& Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton where there
will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 6:00 p.m. Parish
Scripture Service. Visitation continues an hour prior to
the Mass at church.
Dorothy Marie Flick was born June 21, 1928, in
Calmar, IA, the daughter of Adolph and Mae (Riehle)
Mashek. She received her education at St. Joseph’s
Catholic School in New Hampton.
On October 10, 1951, at Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in North Washington she was united in
marriage to Edward Francis Flick. To this union four
children were born. The couple farmed their entire lives
southwest of North Washington on the farm which had been
in the family for well over 100 years. Edward died
suddenly on July 19, 1984.
Dorothy had started the St. Joseph Craft show which
ran for many years in New Hampton. She enjoyed playing
cards, crocheting, gardening and Bingo.
Survivors include three sons, Ed (Becky) Flick of
Beltsville, MD, Jim (Raeann) Flick and Bill Flick all of
New Hampton; one daughter, Kathy (Pat) Morrissey of
Grand Rapids, MI; nine grandchildren and one
great-granddaughter, Brooke Davis; two brothers, Don
(Marianne) Mashek of Lawler and Virgil Mashek of West
Union; three sisters, Alice Rosenberg of Carson City,
NV, Maggie Sloan of Waucoma and Terry Mashek of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; two brothers, A.J. Mashek, Jerry Mashek and a
sister in infancy.
