Henry Louis Budweg, age
89 of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday evening May 27, 2008, at the New Hampton
Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, May 31, 2008 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch officiating. Karen
Downes will be the organist and Keith Kreun will sing,
"I Am But A Stranger Here” and “How Great Thou
Art”.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery
at Fredericksburg with Doug Kleiss, Doug Sukow, Harold
Ross, Robert Downes, Mike Uhlenberg and Steve Neuendorf
serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7
p.m. Friday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home
in Fredericksburg and one hour prior to services at the
church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the
family.
Henry Louis Budweg was born June
27,1918, near Williamstown in Chickasaw County, Iowa, the
son of Albert and Marie (Kottke) Budweg. He attended rural
schools thru the 8th grade. As a youth he
farmed in the Williamstown area.
Henry was united in marriage to Edith
Mae Simmons on May 25, 1942, at the Lutheran Church in New
Hampton. To this union four children were born. Henry and
Edith farmed in the Fredericksburg area until 1958 when
they moved to Fredericksburg. Henry worked as the
purchasing agent for Curbmaster of America in Cedar Falls,
until retiring in 1980.
Henry’s church was an important part
of his life. He first served on the church council
of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Hampton and later
of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. He also
served as the treasurer of the Fredericksburg Housing
Corporation for nine years. The residents at the Sunrise
Guest Home knew they could count on him to help them in
any way.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy
Gruenberg of Layton, Utah and Anna Marie Knutson of
Fredericksburg; two sons, Allan Budweg of Northbrook, IL
and Keith Budweg of Plainwell, MI; a sister, Louise Peters
of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
Henry was preceded in death by his
wife, Edith on August 8, 1998; his parents; one brother,
John Budweg and a son-in-law, Keith Gruenberg.
